Scarlett is here

We brought home the newest member of our family today.

Meet Scarlett (picture stolen from website of the breeder).

Over the summer we not only lost our beloved German Shephard Tex, but Drew was attacked by another German Shephard and since then has been terrified of dogs.

This needed to be taken care of as soon as possible.

I did some searching, but I didn't want to pay a fortune for a dog. I also didn't want to get another German Shephard. Nothing will replace Tex for me, and after Drew's attack, I wanted to get something more gentle. Not that GS aren't gentle, but would Drew ever trust one again?

My father has the sweetest Golden Retriever, and I decided that this needed to be the breed for us.

I scoured the Internet for the perfect one. Not a rescue or pound dog, I don't want a dog that may have a problem, not for Drew. Not an expensive breeder, I just can't afford that.

Then I came across a blog from a couple in Amarillo. They had a blog of their dogs that had just had puppies. And I was in love. They were 5 weeks old at the time, and I immediately contacted them. After some emails on what we wanted, they carefully selected the puppy for our family. I don't think they could have picked a better puppy for us.

She is 7 weeks old and is so sweet and snuggly. And soft. Did I mention sweet?

Even Drew is quickly getting over his fears. He insisted on holding her leash when we stopped for a potty break earlier today.

She has spent most of the day sleeping in my lap, or in someone else's lap. She has been so good with her potty breaks thus far, no accidents in the expedition or in the house yet.

There will be many more pictures and stories of Scarlett to come!!
